The Plastic In Our Bottles Never Ends Up In A Landfill
Primo customers exchange their 3- or 5-gallon empty bottle for a discount on a new one. We clean, sterilize and reuse the bottle up to forty times. When it can no longer be used, it is recycled, so the plastic in our bottles never ends up in a landfill. Learn more about our water exchange process.
Our Exchange System Keeps Single-Use Bottles Out Of Landfills
The average Primo customer consumes 35 Zero Waste 5-gallon Primo Water bottles per year (and the really thirsty ones consume even more). Which means that each Primo Water household doesn’t consume 1,325 single-use bottles. Only 25% of all single-use water bottles are recycled, so Primo kept 994 single-use bottles from ending up in a landfill (or in the ocean or by the side of the road). In the last five years, we’ve kept over 370,000,000 (that’s three hundred and seventy million!) single-use bottles (or about 1.8 million pounds of plastic) out of our nation’s landfills.
Every Bottle We Keep Out Of The Landfills Saves More Oil
Plastic is made from oil – a non-renewable resource. By reusing and recycling our bottles and keeping single-use bottles from being thrown away, we lessen the need for oil to be used to create new bottles. By keeping 370,000,000 single-use bottles out of our landfills, we’ve saved over 44,000 barrels of oil (or more than 1.8 million gallons).
Our Water Is Bottled Locally
Nationwide, the vast majority of Primo Water travels less than 100 miles from the bottling location to the stores where it is sold. This lowers our (and your) “carbon footprint,” as less oil and gas are used to get Primo from its source to your store (and to you).
Our Water Dispensers Are Energy Efficient
Primo water dispensers are designed to provide hot or cold water instantly while using very little energy. All of our dispensers are Energy Star rated and use up to 50% less power than traditional dispensers. Learn more about our water dispenser appliances.
